In the spring of 2020 when schools closed due to the COVID pandemic, Beyond School Bells developed a series of "virtual backpacks" to help families and care givers make the most of their child's out-of-school learning time. These "virtual backpacks” are packed with curated educational experiences that families can use to enhance home-based learning for Nebraska's youth.
Virtual backpacks are available free-of-charge to afterschool providers, businesses, nonprofits and families. Each backpack is packed with curriculum that is age appropriate, hands-on and engaging. These curated materials came from a combination of national, state and local resources, including new BSB created educational experiences. All families need to complete the activities are a few household items and a big imagination. While created for home-use, these backpacks are full of activities that can also be completed in after-school and summer programming that is occuring in-person.
